@lowficarrots I'd say Matrix is still hopeful. Given the coverage (albeit quite techy) and a new director for the Foundation, I'd say things are going in the right direction (albeit quite slowly). (You probably knew that I wrote a guide for it...)

AFAIK Misskey.io and the "Kuroneko Server" group both called police in Japan; the former likely for obstruction and cybercrimes related to spamming, the latter likely for defamation (they were defamed in the initial spam prompt as "a doxxing group"). The kid also had several opsec failures that leaked their identity. Though, I suppose that it's much harder for a more sophisticated spam wave to end this way...
