自分も平気で虫を殺す子どもだったけど、小学校何年生の時だっけか、潰れたてんとう虫を見かけた時に強烈な嫌悪感に襲われて、以後虫を殺せない子どもに変わった。あれ、何だったんだろ。虫の死骸のありさまを自分に置き換えて想像することに成功したのかな？もちろん、今では生活の必要に応じて虫を殺す大人。自分の安息の空間は防衛しなきゃいけないから。

『柳宗悦と朝鮮民族美術館』の図録すごい、朝鮮の人の固有名が一人、しかもことのついでのように一度だけしかでてこなかった。
1924年当時に柳らが景福宮内に朝鮮民族美術館をつくったのはそれなりにまじめなつもりだっただろうけど、いまの地点から振り返ってみて、日本人の固有名だけで埋める歴史を書いてしまうのが、当時まじで日本人しかかかわっていなかったからなのか、それとも現在の日本民藝館の人が朝鮮(韓国)にまったく関心がないからなのか。前者は考えづらいとおもうので後者だろうとおもうけど。

家の周りの砂利スペースの草むしりをしてきた。旅行前に撒いた除草剤がよく効いてばりばり枯れていたので、引っこ抜くのが楽だった。この作業、すぐに腰に来る。30L袋が枯れ草でいっぱいになったのと、霧雨っぽくなってきたタイミングで、いったん上がり。
