@toneji @Telmina I think there are large differences between cultures. Much to my displeasure, the mainstream English-speaking fediverse definitely moved a bit right (or "less progressive") due to the Twitter exodus (especially with the so-called "blue MAGA" crowd), though it's still on the left. The Mandarin-speaking fediverse remains quite progressive, but that is likely due to high barriers of entry.

@bas @garfieldairlines I agree with you on that the conclusion is way too strong. Also, it feels like the research didn't properly address the effect of cosmetic filters (those that hide DOM elements; in the paper it would be uBO vs. Privacy Badger, and it is noted that in some cases the latter actually takes less loading time). Of course there are also limits in their selection of websites.

@AmenZwa I took a functional programming course (in OCaml) which is required for most CS-related degrees at my university. I think it is interesting in how logic is represented and I did well in the course. Though, I do think maybe OOP is more human-readable? So it lowers the bar of entry for CS which made it not really math anymore? Hard to say whether that's good or bad though.

I'm aware that someone is using more than 10 accounts to follow people. I have frozen their accounts on mstdn.party and mstdn.plus demanding an explanation. However, my current assessment is that I do not believe there is bad faith in this situation, and thus more moderation action is not warranted, for now.

EDIT: they clarified that it was for "redundancy" in case any instance goes down. I will talk to them regarding best practices.

I notice that most of these accounts follows the same 600~700 accounts, some of them popular, so I do not think they're specifically stalking anyone; but even so, this is clearly undesirable behaviour which needs to be addressed. (Note that Mastodon allows you to export and import followed users, so this is not necessarily a "bot.") It may also be possible that the person has misunderstandings over how ActivityPub works, judging by their behaviour to link - instead of boost - their own posts.
