The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) was established in 1994 by Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee, to develop interoperable standards to lead the Web to its full potential.
We are an international multi-stakeholder community where member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to build a Web based on the principles of accessibility, internationalization, privacy and security.
Please be more curious than critical. Your interactions go to real people who care and do their best 🙏

W3C in the news:
"The fediverse is a collection of decentralized social media services that interconnect via ActivityPub, a specification from the (W3C). The fediverse is nothing short of a renaissance on the social web because, for the first time in well over a decade, social media has a chance to be truly decentralized. This has massive implications for developers; it may be the best open platform opportunity since the blogosphere in the early 2000s."

Happy birthday CSS!
27 years ago, on 17 December 1996, CSS level 1 became a W3C Recommendation led by Håkon Wium Lie and @bert.
Kudos and many thanks to the Editors, Chairs and all who have contributed to CSS over the years and brought style and beauty to the web.
Happy holidays!!
We wish you happy holidays and all the best for 2024! We’re looking forward to what we’ll accomplish together in 2024.
Warmly, from all of us at the World Wide Web Consortium. See a blog post by @koalie at:

Tim Berners-Lee invented the Web and Vint Cerf invented the Internet. Some people often talk about one but mean the other.
They once wore custom-made t-shirts to help identify which invention was theirs! #aboutW3C
