産経新聞出版では「多くの人に読んでもらいたい内容であることはもちろん、米国のベストセラーが日本で発行できない状態であることに疑問を感じている。不当な圧力に屈せず、発行を決めた」としている。同社にはすでにSNSなどを通じて抗議文や脅迫めいた書き込みが届いているという。
