　昨年秋までの地中レーダーによる調査で、杓子沢は氷の厚さが最大４３メートル、不帰沢は同２９メートルあった。昨年９月と１０月のＧＮＳＳ（全球測位衛星システム）調査では、杓子沢は２６センチ、不帰沢は１４センチ動いていた。１９年に学術的に氷河と確認された唐松沢雪渓の調査では、氷の厚さが最大３５メートル、１カ月の流動が２５センチ。杓子沢と不帰沢の調査結果は唐松沢に劣らないという。

　一方、調査中の白馬沢は氷の厚さが最大３０メートルと確認できたが、雪渓が割れて近づけなくなり、流動のデータは得られなかった。来年も調査を継続する。
