@Winterstar The screen is even bigger than my G7 Power :(
I'm also wondering if the US sold model would support Canadian 4/5G bands, as I believe that's the major pain point of the Fairphone in North America...

(plus in my opinion I don't think it's appropriate to spend more than $200 CAD on a phone)

Finding a new phone with official LineageOS support is painful

I want:

  • 5G support
  • MicroSD support
  • NFC support
  • Screen size max 6.2in, ideally smaller though

And there's 3. THREE officially supported phones.

Official LineageOS support is better than community support IMO as there are more consistent updates, and when support is eventually dropped it's probably easier I imagine for a community member to pick things up given existing working code bases.

Personally, I would be fine to drop MicroSD support IF they offered 256GB as a storage option. That is way more than I'd ever need, but that's the coverage I want.

I want a new phone because the camera on the G7 Power is just honestly... fucking awful. It sucks in any kind of sub-low light or true low light situation, and even in brightly lit scenarios it struggles sometimes. It's becoming increasingly frustrating especially because I use the camera for all sorts of things.

It's also becoming somewhat "slower" in a sense... I just notice it taking longer than I might want to open apps and such, and it sometimes struggles running more than one app in the background, which is really annoying if I'm going through say a purchase and translating or copying information..

F(x)tec Pro X Sony Xperia 5 II Sony Xperia 5 III Three phones with all desired options that have official LineageOS support.

@yuki Are they finally moving to NFC/app only? Or what kinda hellscape will they introduce to us post Opus, given a lot of phones don't have NFC chips (My G7 Power doesn't, but my G6 Japan region phone does...)

Or perhaps they're doing like Presto in Ontario, and simply allowing tapping a credit or debit card, which IMO is superior to the Opus card. (I wonder how weekend and monthly passes would work though, you'd either have an Occasionnel card or need a phone I guess?)

I tried the Chrono app but hated that it wanted my full name and address for a purchase, when despite the implicit privacy "violations" of paying with a credit card at a terminal, at least it's a faster easier process.

If Opus ever goes away happens it'll be a messy time for sure 🥴

@lily TY, updated. Somehow I got the 4th and not 8th.

I'm scared because it seems EVERY STM Opus card station in Montreal runs POSReady 7 , and I highly doubt they're ready to move to IoT 10 (or is that dying too in favour of Windows 11).

I have to imagine the card terminals run separated but these photos say USB :blobcatgooglyshrug:

(Photos taken 2024-08-04 at McGill station I believe)

@dee My only gripes with this are:

  1. Are there alternatives up to reMarkables standard?

bookrunch.com/overview/color_e
I found this giving overviews of various e-readers but who knows how good they are right...

Kobo has something ca.kobobooks.com/products/kobo but it's 6/7in... and

150 PPI—colour content

Does not instill confidence of quality in me

I really do want a color e-ink display for reading comics.

  1. Price tag: $579 USD or $929 CAD ????

@etua_en I don't even know where to contribute, there's no attribution or codebase link for this plugin. It's not a stock OsmAnd plugin, it's not one included in the master repo as far as I can tell.

I also don't even know what this does. osmand.net/map simply points to the OsmAnd map (or OSM)

There's a LOT of existing open use clipart that could've been used instead of AI slop

Why is there an OSMAnd plugin that features clearly AI generated artwork???

OsmAnd+ (OsmAnd~ 4.8.5)
