@kotaro Darn. Well, I hope there are cheap used options at HARD-OFF stores perhaps. I was surprised to not really find much that way when I was looking through stuff there.

Generally I have seen a lot of options back in Canada at thrift/recycle stores, but often the units are very old and only 100mbit, instead of 1gbit for LAN usage. Or alternatively, they have very low RAM and flash memory storage, making them not ideal for long term use...

I'm considering using a spare router I have for Wireguard, as my Pi4 will go to a digitization project eventually. We'll see if that works out.

That said contabo's cheapest tier beats netcup's cheapest tier on price/performance. I kind of regret buying the spare server I intended to setup at home for hosting videos etc, since my netcup server was getting really low on space and performance sucks with 2 cores (for compiling rust apps)

~$80 CAD for 1 year on Contabo Cloud VPS 1
~$58 CAD for 1 year on Netcup VPS 200 G10s

but specs can't be compared this way...
