✨ Import into Pixelfed

We're updating our Import feature to better support the latest IG export format, and will be rolling out later tonight!

Make sure you select the JSON information format. #pixelfed #instagramImport

✨ Privacy + Import from IG

We recognize and respect the importance of your privacy.

When you Import from IG, only the posts you select will be sent to the server (and associated metadata like caption and timestamps).

We will not import, transmit or otherwise store any other data included in the export archive.

The source code for the Import feature will prove this, and remain auditable once we ship this feature! #privacy #import #instagram

We're working on a few new safety/moderation features!

- User domain blocks

- Trusted reports, a feature that allows users to designate specific moderation abilities to trusted friends on their comments

- Shared ModLists, a feature that allows you to create + curate block/mute lists of accounts, and share them with specific friends. If the list creator grants edit permissions, any friend can add a block/muted account and all friends will block/mute that account

Still having issues with Import from Instagram?

We're going to ship an update later tonight that should resolve the issues, and fix missing media (without extensions), add Select All button to make mass import easier, and improve backend performance.

⚡ Transparency is important

When you browse feeds on our app, you can tap the 3 dot menu and tap the "Why you're seeing this post" to learn more about the context.

We call these System Cards, and they help explain why you're seeing a particular post.

This will become more important soon as we release custom algorithmic feeds, don't worry though, chronological feeds will remain the default 😉 #pixelfed #discovery #systemCards
