LWN.netの「記事公開後、一定期間は有料会員とそこから紹介リンクを貰った人が読める、それ以降は誰でも読める」というモデルはニュースサイト向きな感じがするけれど、世の中のメジャーニュースサイトは鮮度が落ちた記事アーカイブも有料会員限定だったり過去の記事が読めなくなったりしていくので悲しいねという気持ち。

ビジネスマン向けの日経なんとかかんとかみたいなサイトは新しい記事を有料会員限定にしたらよさそうだと思っているけど、いわゆる新聞は激しく非難されまくりそう。でもよくよく考えたら新聞って新しい記事は自明に有料なのではとも思う。

過去の記事アーカイブこそ高い価値があるので収益に繋げたいという気持ちもわかるし、とはいえその記事は出版時に収益を上げているのだから時間が経ったら公共の財産とするのはどうかという気持ちがあり、このあたり大学の講義ノートをWebサイトに公開することの是非みたいな話にも繋がるかもしれない。
