@gabboman I'm nearing 50TB of cold (backup) stored data...
At the recovery rate, it would cost bout $250 CAD to restore the data from cold archive. Then I would also incur additional charges on top of that, for when the data is sitting in normal S3 style storage.
Realistically these backups are more for emergencies of truly critical work and files I never wanna lose; I do have other cold archive storage like that that is cheaper to recover, for more active data (photos etc) but none of it is cheap :(
If I was driven enough I'd setup my own LTO tape storage but it's just not worth it at all even at my scale.
