Two great options for finding events happening in your area. There are many alternatives and even fedi/self-hosted options, but if one is just looking to try and connect ASAP with communities, those two are great.

I found I had to search a bit to actually get some results I wanted, and I think Meetup inserts "recommended" events too (paid ads basically)... so there is cruft to push aside.

Check your local museums, libraries, community centres, etc places of gathering, and see if there's any group meetups that may get together (and possibly that are not related to the place itself).

Check your local volunteer groups and see if they might need any help.

Check with local activist groups, of course ensuring you put your safety first if some of them may be more outward than others.

Trying searching online for an interest and use quotes to ensure your city or area is included in search results; perhaps something interesting will come up!

I imagine it was most likely a static image rather than generated on the fly, thus it may not fit in with how the generator works?
