@chfour Rarely, if you set up correctly (but Element's UI guidance does need improvement). I use key backup (no manual import/export), my sessions are verified and kept alive, and I don't use matrix.org. For me, causes, in descending frequency, are:
- toggling the verified session requirement without understanding,
- the opposing homeserver has setup issues,
- the opposing homeserver experienced an outage and MegOlm session is disrupted.

@mothcompute @chfour Don't use matrix.org, the performance issue is ridiculous (not to mention moderation and whatnot - even though they're finally catching up on that now).

We walked to Whitehall Terminal, where crowds (including a tour group from Québec) waited for the #StatenIslandFerry . Like other tourists, we stayed on the upper deck going south, but the crowd blocked the view. Finally got to take a good look going back north on the near-empty lower deck, so here's a picture of #StatueOfLiberty with the iconic #ferry .

@chfour @untsuki You can send emojis in messages just by embedding img tags sourced to any uploaded media in message (which is a subset of HTML), and stickers are just glorified images. (Custom emoji reaction support is not consistent.) The problem is emoji-picking in clients (and sharing). The community prefers and widely adopts MSC2545 (in FluffyChat, Nheko, Cinny...) but Element and the spec team resists it. On Element you can also try https://github.com/maunium/stickerpicker to replace the built-in picker.

@chfour As you probably know, Conduwuit is a fork of Conduit (though the plan for them is to increasingly diverge). As you would probably expected from fediverse experience, there is some... interpersonal conflict... over the maintainers and supporters of the two.
